Ulrich Haas studied tuba in Cologne with Prof.Hans Gelhar.
Ulrich got his first job as a tuba player in 1982. He joined the Kassel symphony orchestra, but he only stayed in this orchestra for one year. In 1983he was appointed solotubist with the Duisburg Philharmonic Orchestra. Mr. Haas is still member of this orchestra.
Besides his work in opera and symphony orchestras, he is member of various chamber music formations, like the RhineBrass (The Brass Quintet of the Duisburg Philharmonic) or the Melton Tuba quartet.
Ulrich tries to share his wide-ranging musical experiences with younger players. From 1985 on he has been teaching as a professor of tuba, euphonium and chamber brass music at the Folkwang Conservatory in Essen.
Mr. Haas is a very succesful teacher. Here only some of his students who got jobs in some of the major orchestras in Germany: Markus Hötzel (NDR Symphony Orchestra Hamburg), Sven Kock (Bielefeld Philharmonic) and Florian Heinl.
